I Knew

Well, I saw her in a tavern just outside of town

I was playing my guitar and just hanging around

I don’t think she’d ever been in there before

Cuz, everyone looked when she walked in the door
And I Knew…yes, I knew

She walked to the bar and ordered a drink

A little scotch and some water on the rocks, I think

She looked straight ahead as she took her first sip

She left a smudge on her glass that looked just like her lips

And I Knew…yes, I knew

And I Knew…yes, I knew

Chorus:

She was more of a woman than I’ve ever known

And it was gonna take some doin’ just to get her home

I was all tongue tied and didn’t know where to start

And I’m tellin’ you ,friends, it was breaking my heart

Cuz, I knew…Yes, I knew

Yes, I Knew

I had to meet her, I thought, right away

But, I was so stunned, I didn’t know what to say

The most beautiful woman that ever walked in that place

And all I could do is look at the side of her face…

But, I Knew…Yes, I Knew

I had a feelin’ deep …down inside

A feelin’ of love that can’t be denied

When all of a sudden, in walked a man

That’s when she smiled…and held out her hand

And I Knew…yes, I knew

And I Knew…yes, I knew
